Badulla
Badulla is a major city in Sri Lanka. It is the capital city of Uva Province, is about 231 km away from Colombo towards the eastern slopes of the central hills of Sri Lanka. There are many routes to Badulla from Colombo, Kandy and Galle. From Colombo, We can reach there via Ratnapura, Balangoda, Haputale, Bandarawela and HaliEla along A4 and A16 to Badulla which may take about 5-6 hours.
Badulla District is an agricultural area where tea, vegetable and paddy are cultivated. Mainly the district is divided in to two portions as Upper region and Lower region according to climatic and environmental characteristics. Upper division of the district is famous for tea plantation and vegetable cultivation while lower division is famous for paddy cultivation.
This attractive train journey is the way to reach Kandy, 121 km by rail from Colombo, or the hill station at Nuwara Eliya. The travel onwards to Badulla, into the up country, is also amazing, and probably the greatest train ride in Sri Lanka
